At the conclusion of the 10-day period of national mourning, on Monday, September 19, the Queen will be laid to rest in state. At 11 a.m., the ceremony will start in London.

The procession that will carry the casket from the Palace of Westminster to the Abbey will start at 9 a.m. with the sound of Big Ben’s bells.

The Archbishop of Canterbury will preside over the ceremony, which will be recorded and shown on television. More than 2000 foreign guests will attend the burial, which will be attended by the whole Royal Family.

The queen will be laid to rest in St. George Chapel in Windsor after the funeral service, in a modest chapel to the left of the building that is already home to King George VI, his wife Elizabeth, and sister Margaret, and where Prince Philip’s body is also anticipated to be moved.

The stock market won’t open, businesses will close their doors, train stations won’t make announcements, and buses and coaches will pull over to the side of the road for a brief time as a sign of respect.

In remembrance of their sovereign, UK subjects will observe two minutes of silence at noon on September 19. The day will also be observed as a public holiday and as a day of national mourning.

In order to highlight how the world of Tattoo Art also had to deal with such a historical figure and how much her importance also meant on a visual level, Tattoo Life decided to honor Queen Elizabeth II (1926–2022) with a collection of tattoos from the best artists in the world as well as other significant creative works.
